William Chew was the son of Thomas Riley Chew and Alice Thornber.

William was born on Wednesday 12 February 1868 in Pewit Hall, Paythorne, Gisburn, Yorkshire.

He was christened on Sunday 6 December 1868 at Tewit Hall, near Gisburn, Yorkshire.

William married Millicent Frankland on Saturday 9 February 1889 in the Parish Church, Grindleton, near Clitheroe, Lancashire.
The witnesses at the marriage were Moses Frankland (Millicent's brother) and Elizabeth Chew (William's sister).
William was 21 years old and Millicent was 21 years old when they married.

William died when he was 79 years old, on Wednesday 2 April 1947 in Beck Farm, Micklethwaite, Bingley, near Keighley, Yorkshire.  

He was buried on Saturday 5 April 1947 in Morton New Cemetery/Sandbeds Cemetery, Bradford Road, Keighley, Yorkshire.
