John Herbert (Jack) Lavender was the son of Thomas James Lavender and Emma Elizabeth Spittle Stevens.

Jack was born on Tuesday 17 October 1882 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire.

Jack married Alice Maud Jeffries on Friday 12 May 1916.

He had the following children from his marriage to Alice Maud Jeffries:

- Mary (Molly) Lavender	born on 24 March 1917.
- Geoffrey (Geoff) Lavender	born on 22 November 1920.
- Nancy Lavender	born on 7 February 1925.
- John Peter Lavender	born in 1926 (date suppressed).

Details of Jack's occupation are not known.

Jack died when he was 64 years old, on Friday 26 April 1957.
