Tom was born on Tuesday 21 January 1873 in Llandilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Tom married Margaret Ann Jenkins on Saturday 13 April 1895 in the Congregational Chapel, Llanelly, Carmarthenshire, Wales.
The witnesses at the marriage were Mary Ann Edwards and William Adler.
Tom was 22 years old and Margaret was 19 years old when they married.
