Sarah Ellen Frankland was the daughter of George Chew and Elizabeth Ann Frankland.

Sarah was born on Sunday 4 August 1878 in 38 Annie Street, Accrington, Lancashire.

Hannah Frankland (nee Lord), Elizabeth Ann's sister-in-law, was present at Sarah's birth.

Sarah married Hartley Brown in 1902 in the Skipton Registration District.

She had the following children from her marriage to Hartley Brown:
