Walter Thomas was the son of Walter Thomas and Maria Louiza van den Boom.

Walter was born on Sunday 31 December 1871 in Ravenhead, Sutton, St Helens, Lancashire.

Walter married Medina Hopkinson on Friday 29 May 1896 in the Register Office, Solihull, Warwickshire.
The witnesses at the marriage were E.Thompson and Frank Glen Thompson.
Walter was 24 years old and Medina was 25 years old when they married.

He had the following children from his marriage to Medina Hopkinson:

Walter was a Copper Refiner, Chemical Metalurgist, Timekeeper, Foreman and Lead Smelter.

Walter died when he was 65 years old, on Sunday 12 September 1937 in Whitworth Hospital, Darley Lane, Matlock.   The cause of his death was Bronchopneumonia and Chronic Bronchitis.   W.C.Thomas (his son) was the informant of his death.

He was buried in 1937 in Widnes, Lancashire.
