Emma Spittle was the daughter of Jabez Spittle and Ann Kendrick.

Emma was born around 1833 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire.

She was christened on Sunday 6 November 1836 at St Bartholomew's Church, Wednesbury, Staffordshire.

Emma married Thomas Rathbone on Wednesday 27 December 1854 in St Bartholomew's Church, Wednesbury, Staffordshire.

She had the following children from her marriage to Thomas Rathbone:
