Edward Chew was the son of James Chew and Ann Fothergill.

Edward was born around 1750.

He was christened at 5th December 1750.

Edward married Elizabeth Christopher on Sunday 25 April 1773.

Edward's second marriage was to Ann Grime on Tuesday 7 January 1777.

He had the following children from his marriage to Ann Grime:

- Abraham Chew	born on 16 July 1780 in Middleton.
- Edward Chew	born in 1781 in Bury.
- Jane Chew	born in 1781.
- John Grime Chew	born in 1782 in Bury.
- William Christopher Chew	born on 26 October 1788 at Blackburn, Lancashire.
- Jenny Chew
- George Chew
- James Chew

Edward's third marriage was to Alice Hargreaves on Thursday 22 May 1794.

Edward was an Attorney at Law.

Edward died when he was about 71 years old, in 1821.
