Margaret Greenwood was born around 1811 in Little Bowland, Lancashire.

Margaret married Joseph Wood on Tuesday 17 April 1838 in Whitewell, Lancashire.

She had the following children from her marriage to Joseph Wood:

- James Wood	born around 1845 in Slaidburn, Yorkshire.
- Betty Wood	born around 1849.

Margaret's second marriage was to Tempest Slinger in 1856.

Margaret died when she was 82 years old, on Sunday 22 April 1894.  

She was buried in 1894 in St Andrews Church, Slaidburn.

Her gravestone has the following inscription:

In Loving Memory of

Tempest Slinger
Late of Ellerbeck Hall
Who died Feb 27th 1890
Aged 76 years

And of Margaret
His Wife
Who died April 22nd 1894
Aged 82 years
