Alexander McBain (Alec) Chew was the son of Henry Chew and Elizabeth Ellen Pearson.

Alec was born on Saturday 4 June 1898 in Charter Street, Accrington, Lancashire.

Alec married Edith Slater in 1921.

He had the following children from his marriage to Edith Slater:

Alec was an Engine Turner, firstly for Howard and Buller's in Accrington and then for Foster, Yates and Thom. Ltd, Blackburn.

Alec died when he was 66 years old, on Tuesday 6 July 1965 in Hillingdon, Middlesex, West London.   The cause of his death was Coronary occlusion due to atheroma.
