Alfred George (Alf) Lavender was the son of Thomas James Lavender and Emma Elizabeth Spittle Stevens.

Alf was born on Tuesday 17 June 1884 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire.

Alf married Gertrude Alice Barker on Sunday 6 September 1908.

He had the following children from his marriage to Gertrude Alice Barker:

- Florence Gertrude (Fay) Lavender	born on 23 December 1910.
- Kathleen (Kay) Lavender	born on 22 January 1915.

Alf was an Insurance Agent.

Alf died when he was 83 years old, on Sunday 10 March 1968.
