William John Burrill was the son of John Burrill and Jane Umpleby.

William was born around 1855 in Carlesmoor, Swetton, Kirkby Malzeard, near Ripon, North Yorkshire.

He was christened on Friday 6 June 1856 at St Peters Church, Dallowgill, Kirkby Malzeard, near Ripon, North Yorkshire.

William married Kate King in 1891 in the Ripon Registration District.
