Annie was known in the family as Bugsy due to her habit of lying in bed; bed-bug = Bugsy! Her daughter, Mary, relates that the nickname was from snug as a bug in a rug a description of how she looked when having her afternoon nap! Her uncle Walter Lavender ran a bakery at 41, Holyhead Road, Wednesbury in 1900. In 1914, she was engaged to a Sidney?, who was apparently killed in the war.
