Arthur Townsend was the son of Henry Townsend and Emma Wing.

Arthur was born on Thursday 5 September 1872 in Marylebone, London, Middlesex.

Arthur married Harriett Mary Wood on Tuesday 27 July 1897 in St Savious, Paddington, Westminster.

He had the following children from his marriage to Harriett Mary Wood:
