Roland married Delia Constance Chatterton on Saturday 22 March 1947.

He had the following children from his marriage to Delia Constance Chatterton:

- Roger Holmes Chatterton-Newman	born in 1949 (date suppressed).
- Nigel John Gossage Chatterton-Newman	born in 1952 (date suppressed).

Details of Roland's occupation are not known.

Roland died when he was 87 years old, on Tuesday 6 July 2004.
