on Tuesday 24 March 1874
in St Helen's Cemetery, Rainford Road, St Helens, Lancashire.
He was buried in section 8, grave 105.
His gravestone (see 'Pictures' link above) had the following inscription:
In affectionate rememberance of
William son of Walter and Maria Louisa Thomas
Who departed this life March 22 1874 aged 4 years and 3 months
The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away
Blessed be the will of the Lord
Also the above Walter Thomas
Who died March 9th 1886 aged 60 yerars
His languishing head is at rest
Its thinking and aching are o'er
His quiet immovable breast
Is heaved by affliction no more
May he rest in peace
Also Maria Louisa Thomas wife of the above
Who died Novr 12th 1893 aged 51 years
May she rest in peace
Gone but not forgotten
William was buried in a Public Grave (which have no headstones). His name would have been added to the "Family Grave" later, as a mark of rememberance by one of the family.
