Dawson Parkinson was the son of John (Jackie) Parkinson and Sarah Ellen Chew.

Dawson was born around 1878 in Bolton by Bowland, near Clitheroe, Lancashire.

Dawson married Alice Ann Life in 1905 in the Clitheroe Registration District (Mar Quarter).

He had the following children from his marriage to Alice Ann Life:

- Esther Alice Parkinson	born on 13 February 1905 in Bolton by Bowland, near Clitheroe, Lancashire.
- Henry Parkinson	born in 1906 at the Clitheroe Registration District (Jun Quarter).
- Wilfred Helm Parkinson	born in 1908 in Bolton by Bowland, near Clitheroe, Lancashire.

Dawson was an Agricultural Labourer, and later a Coal Dealers Carter.

Dawson died when he was about 39 years old, in 1917.
