Francis Thomas Harper was the son of William Harper and Sarah Ann Payton.

Francis was born on Tuesday 30 September 1879 in Bilston, Staffordshire.

Francis married Lily Wilkinson in 1909 in the Barnsley Registration District.
Lily was 17 years old when they married.

He had the following children from his marriage to Lily Wilkinson:

- Francis R. (Frank) Harper	born on 21 November 1913 at the Atcham Registration District (Dec Qtr).

Francis was a Compositor (printing) and later a Superintendent of Refuge Insurance and was one of the Elders at St Mary's Church, Bilston.
