Sarah Keay was the daughter of James Keay and Elizabeth Dainty.

Sarah was born around 1819 in Ketleybank, Shropshire.

Sarah married Samuel Lavender on Sunday 14 October 1849 in St George's Church, Camberwell, London.

She had the following children from her marriage to Samuel Lavender:

- Thomas James Lavender	born on 24 October 1851 in Madeley, Shropshire.
- John William Lavender	born on 29 September 1854 in Netherton, Staffordshire.
- Henrietta Lavender	born on 17 January 1857 in Netherton, Staffordshire.
- Samuel Lavender	born on 12 November 1858 in Netherton, Staffordshire.
- Walter Alfred Lavender	born on 30 September 1860 in Smethwick, Staffordshire.

Sarah died when she was about 55 years old, on Friday 27 February 1874 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire.  

She was buried in 1874 in St James Church, Wednesbury, Staffordshire.
