Walter Starling Lavender was the son of William Lavender and Sarah Ann Whitworth.

Walter was born in 1872 in Lambeth, Middlesex.

Walter married Alice Lewis in 1900 in St Giles.

He had the following children from his marriage to Alice Lewis:

- Walter Charles L. Lavender	born around 1901 in Wandsworth.
- Lilian Rose (Lily) Lavender	born in 1903 in Wandsworth.

Walter was a School Keeper.
