Richard William Michael Whistance was the son of Richard Whistance and Hannah Maria Page.

Richard was born in 1876 in West Bromwich Registration District, Staffordshire.

He was christened on Sunday 9 April 1876 at St Andrew's Church, Wednesbury, Staffordshire.

Richard married Caroline Smith Potter in 1902 in Wolverhampton Registration District, Staffordshire.

He had the following children from his marriage to Caroline Smith Potter:

- Harry Whistance	born in 1903.
- Evelyn Whistance	born in 1910.
- George William Whistance	born in 1916.

Richard was a Mechanical Engineer.

Richard died when he was 44 years old, on Monday 23 February 1920.
