- Margaret Ascough	born around 1784.

Details of Matthew's occupation are not known.

Matthew died when he was 69 years old, on Wednesday 12 July 1809.  

His gravestone has the following inscription:

Here lieth the body of Matthew
Ascough of Ash-Head, who departed
this life 12th July 1809, Æt. 69.
He was an excellent neighbour.
Also near this place lieth the body
of Ann Scaife, daughter of Mat-
thew and Margaret Ascough who
departed this life 4th June 1807
Æt. 32
Also near this place lieth the body of
Margaret Brooks their daughter who
departed this life 14th August 1809
Æt. 25 years.
And also of Margaret his Wife
Who died March 20th 1824 Æt.
80 years.
