Riley Chew was the son of William Chew and Millicent Frankland.

Riley was born on Thursday 14 February 1889 in Grindleton, Lancashire.

Riley married Maud Busfield on Monday 24 April 1916 in the Parish Church, Gisburn, near Clitheroe, Lancashire.
The witnesses at the marriage were John Chew (Riley's brother) and Mary Ann Chew (Riley's sister).
Riley was 27 years old and Maud was 24 years old when they married.

He had the following children from his marriage to Maud Busfield:

born on 20 June 1916.

Riley was a Farm Labourer, and during WWI he was a Gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery.

Riley died when he was 28 years old, on Saturday 14 July 1917 in Belgium.  

He died in action during WWI.

He was buried in 1917 in Dickebusch New Military Cemetery, Belgium.
