William Lawrence Chew was the son of Thomas Heath Chew and Jane Hall.

William was born around 1845 in Harpurhey, Manchester, Lancashire.

William married Fanny Rowe Ball Pellow in 1871 in the Macclesfield Registration District (Jun Quarter).

He had the following children from his marriage to Fanny Rowe Ball Pellow:

- Eleanor Chew	born on 13 November 1872 at Broughton, Lancashire.
- Dorothy Chew	born around 1879 at Withington, Lancashire.
- Gladys Chew	born around 1886 at Chorley, Cheshire.

William was a Solicitor.

William died when he was 64 years old, in 1909 in the Nantwich Registration District (Dec Quarter).  

He bought Hankelow Court, Hankelow, Audlem, Cheshire in 1900 and had it enlarged in 1901. His children were living there in 1911, and so he probably died there in 1909.
