History of The Red Lion Inn.
The Old Red Lion Inn at Radlett, Hertfordshire, was owned throughout the 19th Century by just two families, first the Clarks and then the Wings, who were in possession until it was demolished in 1905.    The Smithy at the Cross Keys was transferred to the other Inn when Tom Wing acquired it, but his son, James, soon set up a separate blacksmith's shop in the yard of the detached flint house across the road.    His principle employee was Wm Andrews, who took over the business in the 1880's and built it into a flourishing concern.    When young Tom Wing died his widow was persuaded to sell the Red Lion to the newly formed and locally based Hertfordshire Public House Trust.

Will of Thomas Wing.
