Mary Lavender Greenhough was the daughter of Richard (Dick) Greenhough and Anne Beatrice (Bugsy) Lavender.

Mary was born on Wednesday 24 May 1922 in 5 (now renumbered 7), Garratt Street, West Bromwich, Staffordshire.

She was christened on Wednesday 14 June 1922 at St Andrews Church, West Bromwich.

Mary married Gordon David Thomas on Monday 3 September 1945 in St Johns Church, Harborne, Birmingham.
The witnesses at the marriage were G.T.Chamberlain (Best Man), H.D.Thomas (Gordon's father) and A.B.Greenhough (Mary's mother).
Mary was 23 years old and Gordon was 24 years old when they married.
