Mary Ann Sullivan was born in 1856 in Liverpool.

Mary married Robert Downey

Details of Mary's marriage are not known.

She had the following children from her marriage to Robert Downey:

- Margaret Ann Downey	born around 1880 in Birkenhead, Cheshire.
- Elizabeth Mary (Lizzie) Downey	born on 7 May 1882 in 1, Ivy Bank, Birkenhead, Cheshire.

Mary died when she was about 75 years old, in 1931.  

She was buried in 1931 in Allerton Cemetery, near Garston, Liverpool, Lancashire.

She separated from her husband, Robert, in around 1901. She then lived with her daughter Elizabeth and her husband Walter at Lawn Cottage, Alma Road, Aigburth, near Garston, Liverpool.
